The AI FPV Attack Module is a small companion computer built by Abto Software , a Lviv software house that repurposed a computer-vision practice into Ukraine’s drone war. Introduced in 2023, the module bolts onto a first-person-view attack drone and takes over the final seconds of the strike, guiding the airframe to a designated target after the radio link between pilot and drone has been broken. It addresses a specific gap that emerged as Russian electronic-warfare units began blanketing the front line with jamming: an FPV pilot can no longer count on flying the drone all the way in, and the last hundred metres are precisely where the target has the best chance to move or take cover.
The device is designed as a payload-light add-on — Abto quotes roughly 180 grams, low enough to bolt onto standard 7-inch and 10-inch Ukrainian FPV frames without collapsing their range. The company describes a workflow in which the pilot marks a target on the video feed while still in link, at which point the module’s onboard vision model locks the object and continues to steer the drone even after the RC and video channels are jammed. Abto claims a targeting activation time of five milliseconds and an 80–90 per cent hit rate against vehicles moving up to 60 km/h — figures published by the manufacturer that have not been independently corroborated. The module runs a computer-vision stack the company says is trained on Ukrainian front-line footage; specifics of the underlying edge-compute board have not been publicly disclosed.
Ukrainian forces are the sole known operator. The system is one of a growing set of Ukrainian-built “terminal guidance” modules that have moved from lab demos to serial issue across 2024 and 2025, part of the wider BRAVE1 defence-tech ecosystem coordinated from Kyiv. Deployment counts have not been made public. Independent open-source-intelligence accounts have documented a rising number of strikes attributed to autonomously-guided Ukrainian FPVs since 2024, though it is generally not possible to tell from the footage which vendor’s module was fitted.
Abto has continued to iterate on the module through 2025, with the company describing incremental updates to the vision model and support for additional drone frames. The module sits in a rapidly crowding niche: a class of low-cost, software-first autonomy add-ons that Ukrainian units treat as near-consumable, and that Western militaries are watching closely as a cheaper alternative to their own guided-munition programmes.
