Ukrainian FPVs increasingly intercept Russian helicopters mid-LMUR launch

Published 17 October 2026

A confirmed FPV strike on a Russian Mi-28N at the moment it was firing an LMUR air-launched anti-tank missile illustrates a documented shift: Ukrainian FPV drones are now regularly reaching rotary-wing platforms during active weapon deployment, not only on the ground or transiting. Russian analysts note this is no longer isolated — helicopters are being intercepted with rising frequency as crews attempt to find stand-off distance beyond FPV engagement range, and that gap is closing.
