A new Geran-5 sub-variant designated K5-K was reported in active use against Ukraine on 22 October. Ukrainian EW specialist Beskrestnov (Flash) identifies a modified fuselage and an optical navigation system added alongside the turbofan engine; monitoring sources attribute higher speed, range and altitude ceiling to K5-K compared to earlier Geran-5 builds, though official Russian figures remain unpublished. Flash notes this appears within a broader pattern of at least seven parallel Russian low-cost jet-strike programmes—Geran-5, Banderol, Dan-T, Dan-M, S71M, UMPB-5 and the newly documented Filin—each converging toward cruise-missile performance through mass production using domestic components.
