UMO Ukraine
Ukrainian FPV-drone maker producing 13-inch combat quadcopters, including fiber-optic variants resistant to jamming.
UMO Ukraine is a manufacturer of first-person-view (FPV) combat drones that emerged during the full-scale war. It is the Ukrainian arm of UMO, a Polish defence and police-technology firm that dates to 1997 and supplies NATO countries; the Ukrainian operation was set up in 2024 to build and supply unmanned systems closer to the front. Its core line is the “Hydra” family of tactical FPV platforms, in 10-inch and 13-inch sizes, designed around feedback from front-line units and offered ready for use out of the box.
The drones carry a combat payload of roughly 0.8 to 1.3 kg depending on version and a choice of daytime, twilight and thermal cameras, with a homing function for terminal guidance and a ground control station that can manage several drones at once. UMO also produces fibre-optic variants, controlled over a thin spool of optical cable rather than radio and therefore immune to the electronic jamming that increasingly defeats conventional FPV links along the front. The company reports a setup time of about ten minutes and reuse of a station within a few minutes.
Its imaging draws on a partnership with Teledyne FLIR : UMO Ukraine acts as the company’s authorised partner in the country and integrates FLIR thermal cores, such as the Boson+, into its drones and surveillance kit. The firm is one of several FPV producers to scale up after 2022; the Warsaw-based Centre for Eastern Studies (OSW) lists it among the notable Ukrainian battlefield-drone makers to emerge during the war, and it presented its unmanned and thermal-imaging work at a Brave1 forum in February 2025.
