Sensorama Lab
Kyiv 3D-vision and immersive-media studio that co-developed the terrain-relative navigation behind Blue Arrow's GPS-free drone system.
Sensorama Lab is a Kyiv studio, founded in 2016 and based at the UNIT.City innovation park, that built its name in immersive media: 3D vision, virtual and augmented reality, 3D modelling and 360-degree video. Its commercial portfolio spans real estate, industry, energy, education and the arts, and the studio has run AR and VR educational programmes in Ukraine. By its own account it has delivered well over a hundred projects.
That visual-computing expertise carried into defence after the full-scale invasion. Sensorama Lab paired with the Pittsburgh firm KEF Robotics, a specialist in camera-based aircraft autonomy, and the two formed the joint venture Blue Arrow , which builds GPS-free navigation for drones from a research base in Kyiv. The companies say they collaborated for roughly a year and a half before launching the venture publicly in early 2025.
Sensorama’s contribution sits in terrain-relative navigation — sometimes described as map-matching — which cross-references a drone’s live camera feed against pre-loaded terrain maps so the aircraft can place itself without satellite signals. Keeping navigation alive under jamming and spoofing has become one of the defining technical contests of the war, and visual guidance is one of the main answers being pursued on the Ukrainian side. The Sensorama-KEF collaboration took first place at a NATO-Ukraine Defense Innovators Forum hackathon for automated visual guidance.
Through Blue Arrow, the partnership reports ongoing tests with Ukrainian military units and says more than twenty drone manufacturers have begun integrating its technology. In 2025 the venture was seeking roughly three million dollars in outside funding and said it was in talks with several foreign funds; it has also reported European military orders. Sensorama Lab itself remains the Ukrainian, visual-computing half of that effort, supplying the perception work that lets a drone read the ground beneath it rather than trust a satellite fix.
