RoverTech
Maker of the armoured ZMIY family of ground robots and the Tarantula active protection system against FPV drones.
RoverTech is a Ukrainian defence-robotics company founded in December 2023 by a group of former coal miners from the Lviv region, where it still builds its machines. Its core product is the ZMIY (“Snake”), an armoured ground robot designed from the start to keep working under fire from FPV drones, mines, and artillery. The platform comes in a range of configurations: a logistics variant carrying 500 kilograms or more with Starlink links, a 12.7 mm strike version with AI-assisted target detection and tracking, a demining machine, and recovery, engineering, and firefighting builds.
The ZMIY demining platform passed Ukrainian proving-ground testing and received codification from the Ministry of Defence, and the company’s hardware carries NATO supply codes. Ukraine’s General Staff has cited a roughly 30 percent reduction in losses among units using the logistics variants to move supplies across exposed ground. RoverTech also builds the Tarantula, an active protection system for ground vehicles: AI sensors detect an approaching FPV drone and net launchers fire an interception net at close range — one of the first Ukrainian counter-FPV systems shown as working hardware rather than a concept.
The firm developed its first machines without outside investment and later gained status within Ukraine’s state defence-tech cluster, Brave1 . It has worked with the Ministry of Defence, the State Emergency Service, the National Guard, and the HALO Trust on humanitarian demining, and in 2026 announced a collaboration with the French firm StrongholdAI on the AURA acoustic-and-optical sensor system, intended to detect fibre-optic-controlled drones and feed the Tarantula. RoverTech has also worked with fellow ground-robot maker DevDroid .
