Avia Systems (Aviation Systems of Ukraine)

Kyiv maker of the ASU-1 Valkyrja, a portable flying-wing electric ISR drone.

Avia Systems, also styled Aviation Systems of Ukraine, is a Kyiv-based maker of small reconnaissance drones. Its flagship product is the ASU-1 Valkyrja, a portable flying-wing aircraft built for the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance role. The design has no conventional tail, relying on a blended wing-body shape and wing-tip winglets for stability, with a rear pusher propeller and a gyro-stabilized gimbal slung beneath the fuselage. The optics package combines a 4K camera with zoom and a thermal imager for day and night work, streaming high-definition video to ground operators.

The Valkyrja is a hand-launched or bungee-catapult system in the under-4-kilogram class, with a 1.6-metre wingspan that packs into a hard case shaped like the airframe. Manufacturer figures put the command-and-control range at roughly 35 kilometres and endurance at about 120 minutes, with the drone typically used for aerial reconnaissance and correction of artillery fire. The company says the type has been supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard and Special Operations Forces, and reference catalogues record it in active use during the war that began in 2022.

Avia Systems sits among the cluster of Ukrainian fixed-wing ISR makers that expanded sharply after 2022, alongside firms such as DeViRo and Skyeton whose products fill overlapping reconnaissance niches.
